Hervey Bay is a coastal town approximately 300km north of Brisbane, Queensland’s Capital City. Hervey Bay boasts a population growth above the state average and has over 52,000 residents.
What Public Transport is available in Hervey Bay?
To get to Hervey Bay:
·    Daily air service from Brisbane and jet service from Sydney. Airport Shuttle Buses meet some flights.
·    Daily tilt train service from Brisbane in the South or Cairns in the North to Maryborough West Railway Station and connecting bus service to Hervey Bay

What Education Facilities are available in Hervey Bay?
Education from kindergarten to university is available in Hervey Bay. Parents can choose from state or private schools for both primary and secondary education.  The University of Southern Queensland has a campus at Hervey Bay and offers accounting, community welfare and development, teaching, information technology, marketing, mass communication, nursing and tourism courses.  Undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs are available.  Campus facilities include state-of-the-art lecture theatres, computer laboratories, simulated clinical wards for the nursing program and the best library access to resources in the Wide Bay region. Wide Bay TAFE provides courses in alternative education for year 11 and 12 and vocational training in a variety of industries.

Is Housing affordable?
In the 2006 Census, the median weekly rent in Hervey Bay was $190 (in line with the Australian average). Median housing loan repayments were $1,083 per month (lower than the Australian average of $1,300 per month). Approximately 27% of households in Hervey Bay are rented this is in line with the Australian Average. 42% of occupied private dwellings in Hervey Bay are fully owned, with 24% being purchased.
What Medical Services are available in Hervey Bay?
Hervey Bay Hospital has approximately 100 beds. Hospital inpatient services include anaesthetics, surgery, dental, obstetrics and gynaecology, oncology, paediatrics, renal unit and intensive care. The hospital also has a 24 hour Accident and Emergency Department.

What recreation facilities are available?
Hervey Bay’s safe beaches and subtropical climate make it perfect for a wide variety of recreational pursuits including swimming, diving, fishing, golf, tennis, football (all codes), basketball and hockey. There are extensive walk/cycle tracks and parks and playgrounds throughout the city for informal recreations. Hervey Bay has art galleries, libraries, a cinema complex, two games arcades, go-kart track, restaurants and cafes and three major shopping centres.
